Quick FMEA
FMEA is often very time consuming, and can be done only when a product or process design outline is available. In addition, the standard FMEA methodology is not suitable for system level analysis, crucial in earlier stages of a product life (e.g. feasibility study, concept review, etc). Hence, the standard FMEA is often performed quite late in the design stage, leading to corrective actions that are more expensive and more complicated to implement. Furthermore, the standard FMEA is ineffective in producing corrective actions for system level failures and for system processes failures.
The Quick FMEA (QFMEA) is an FMEA methodology for overcoming these shortcomings. It is a fast and efficient method that can be applied for systems and for processes, as well as for product sub-systems. It is effective from the earliest stages of product life. Quick FMEA is very useful for detection of major potential failures in early product life stages, and prioritizes them qualitatively according to their estimated potential damage. This results in corrective actions that are less complicated and less costly to implement, and with a significant savings of both time and money.
