Acceleration Models in Reliability Prediction Standards: Justification and Improvement

This presentation reviews the global approach of the different reliability prediction methods (MIL-HDBK-217, RDF2000, MIL217Plus, FIDES) and takes a detailed look at the acceleration model of the main stress applied during the in-service product life (steady-state temperature, thermal cycling, humidity, vibration). These acceleration laws are then justified by different accelerated tests performed during the development phase. Certain model improvements are proposed in order to yield more realistic reliability predictions.
