Operational Risk Based Reliability Management System

For process plants, such as those in the petroleum sector, there is an escalating demand for increased availability at optimized costs. This, in turn, demands the design of an optimized maintenance window to fit into the operating window of the refinery management system. Hence, to achieve this, various maintenance strategies have undergone fine tuning to match the escalating market expectation. This presentation is a success story of one such reliability strategy. The presentation discusses: 1) The concept of this strategy and how it fits into the refinery management system. 2) Optimization of the maintenance strategy through reliability centered maintenance, risk-based inspection and SIFPRO. 3) Improving base reliability through a defect elimination process. The entire presentation revolves around effective reactive and proactive reliability management strategies to improve the overall system reliability.
